Hi Mums, Dads and Carers

June has past and we are now into July and the holiday season is well on its way, hopefully we will see the return of the good weather and we would ask again that you bring in sun hats and sun cream for your child.

GRADUATION
Last month the staff in the 3/5 room were busy preparing for the children’s graduation from the nursery. All the pre-school children participated in their graduation ceremony on the 16th June in the New Town Hall which was a great success.
I am sure all parents/carers would agree that each and every child were stars.
Thank you to everyone for who came to watch the ceremony.

Room News
From the week beginning 20th July 2009 the staff within the rooms will be changing slightly to allow not only staff to gain experience within each age group but to ensure that the children are observed and challenged in a fresh way by the new team within their rooms

The changes will be:

Ladybird and Butterfly room
This month in the Ladybird Room are still enjoying going out and about in the fresh air.
The staff are continuing to plan sensory experiences which some of you were brave enough to sample at the Parent’s Evening.

The Butterfly Room will be focusing on a summer theme this month and staff would be grateful if you could provide photographs of your child on holiday or on day trips for their wall display.
Just a reminder about outdoor clothing.
Could you please provide Wellingtons for your child as we still go out on rainy days?

Sunshine Room
Hello Everyone

What a busy month!

The Toddlers have been getting very messy exploring in all the sensory materials and splashing in the puddles.

We apologise for all the wet clothes and washing you have been getting recently.

We do have waterproof suits and have been putting them on however , due to the heavy rain showers clothes are still getting wet.

A Big Thank you for all the donations and support have shown for our fundraising walk.

Last week all the Toddlers took part in a nice healthy walk to Tesco and back they all did very well and thankfully none of them needed carried back.

Kate, Angela and Liz from the room took part in the Race for Life either walking or running 5K around Glasgow.

Next month the children moving into the 3-5 room will begin their settles.

Each child will get a few days to do this and become familiar with the new room and the room staff for their move in August. Their key worker will discuss with you prior to them moving through next door.

Children who have turned two have also been moving up to the Sunshine Room recently where our existing Toddlers have made friends with them very quickly making their transition easier and enjoyable.

Could we remind all parents to bring in Wellington Boots, Sun Hats Sun cream and a change of clothes for your child?

Rainbow Room
The children all took part in their Sponsored Walk and have been enjoying learning about Healthy Living.
Well done to the children who participated and Thank You to everyone who helped raise money.
Congratulations to the Pre-School children on graduating. They all did so well
And their hard work and practising singing paid of.
We want to wish them all good luck for starting school and we will miss them all very much.
Over the next few weeks we will be welcoming the children from the Sunshine Room by having settling in period.
Any parent with any questions, please feel free to speak to any member of staff from either of the rooms

PARENTS NIGHT
Parent’s night for all of the rooms had a good response and we appreciate that parents took time to come along and chat to staff and some of you were even brave enough to explore the activities on display. Also thank you for completing and returning the questionnaires as this gives me relevant feed back and allows parent’s /carers to suggest ideas for their child’s individual development and needs.

Race for life
Some of the staff within the nursery walked, ran and bravely used crutches to complete the race .Which is has been displayed on the board at reception for all to see.
Staff have raised £1,692.00 and as you all know the children took part in their own sponsored walk and they raised £1,200.00 .

So well done to both children and staff and many thanks to all who supported the cause.

TESCO COMPUTERS FOR SCHOOLS VOUCHERS
This has now finished and we have collected 14,147 vouchers. If you still have vouchers please can you hand them to a member of staff or into the office?
Many thanks to everyone who has brought them in for us and allowing us to reach our target.

GOVERNMENT FUNDING
All children whose third birthday is between March and end August will receive their government funding as from 24th August 2009, provided all appropriate documents have been received and approved by North Lanarkshire Council. If you have not returned all paperwork to the office for this place then please do not be offended when you are refused a funded place, as I have continually sent out numerous letters to everyone regarding what is required of them and still they have not been returned. Everyone who has completed all the paperwork will receive an invoice stating what their new payment will be. If you are unsure about your child’s funded place then please come and speak to me.

PAYMENT
Over the past four months I am constantly chasing payment of fees, which is time consuming. I know this does not concern the majority of parents so I apologise to you, but there are those whom I am continually asking for payments of fees:- outstanding for June £1,900.00. The owner has now stipulated that all fees must be paid no latter than the 7th of the month, if fees have not been received by this date then your child will not be allowed to return until this is paid. If this is not paid then your child’s place will be allocated to the next person on my waiting list. The only person suffering from this is your child, so please do not put me in the position where your child is refused entry to our nursery. Once again I apologise for those who this does not concern and thank you for ensuring your fees are paid on time as this allows the smooth running of the nursery and of course the staff being paid.

HOLIDAYS
If you and your child are going on holiday please can you confirm the dates you are going in writing. We are currently renewing our policy and due to legislation we will be contacting parents after a child has been absent from the nursery for one day. If your child will be absent from nursery I would be grateful if you could contact us by telephone, 01236 454100, or email and inform me when you expect your child to return.

I would be grateful if you could complete the attached form as this will allow us to ensure that we have the correct details for your child on file.

All that is left is for me to wish those of you going on holiday a quiet, relaxing time and we look forward to seeing you when you return.
